This program explores the essential components and functions of the nervous system while also investigating the endocrine system. The following parts of the nervous system are illustrated through colorful graphics: brain, spinal cord, nerves, and sense organs. Nervous system problems such as meningitis, stroke, and concussion are discussed. The role the endocrine system plays in controlling certain body functions is investigated, as are specific endocrine problems. Important terminology includes: cerebrum, cerebellum, brainstem, central nervous system, peripheral nervous system, hormones, testosterone, estrogen, glands, and insulin.
