In this live-action program viewers will learn that cellular respiration is the metabolic process that breaks down organic molecules to release energy for use by cells. Students will come to understand the process turns glucose from food into carbon dioxide, water, and the high energy compounds Adenosine triphosphate or ATP and NADH. These molecules provide the energy for the cell to function. They will discover that the two types of cellular respiration are aerobic and anaerobic and that
ATP is used by cells to power their activities—to grow, divide, replace worn out cell parts, and execute many other tasks. The program discusses that without cellular respiration life could not exist.
