Subtracting Rational Numbers

In this video lesson we will learn that we use the same rule for subtracting rational numbers as we did for subtracting integers. We will rewrite the subtraction problem to be an addition problem by adding the opposite value. Fondly known as KEEP, CHANGE, OPPOSITE. We will subtract fractions and decimals while reviewing the rules. We will review adding rational numbers and how to use the additive inverse property with opposites. We will apply our ability to subtract by finding the change in temperature. Student practice is embedded in the lesson with modeled exemplar solutions.
